mroute: inbound br-iot is not a known phyint

Hi,

I put my LG TV into its own VLAN (br-iot) and I am trying to route ssdp so that I can still cast to the TV from br-lan. smcroute is running on my OpenWrt router

My smcroute.conf:

Sides the interface exists at the point in time when smcroute starts?

I have restarted and reloaded smcroute multiple times hours after the device has booted (and the interfaces are months old), so to the best of my knowledge they exist when smcroute starts

Odd, the MULTICAST flag is sort of the most important, but that seems to be set in your env. Could you try to start smcrouted with the argument -l debug to see if the interface is probed?

Uhm... that is weird. Running it with -l debug read the config and now it works.

I haven't touched the config or even the machine in the meantime so I don't know why it works now.

Always great to find your years old problems again.

I'm again fell over this issue: I'm getting a parsing error when running smcrouted -n, but running smcrouted -n -l debug works as expected.

The only thing I can think of that might cause this is that at the time smcrouted starts, the br-iot interface does not yet exist, or does not yet have the IFF_MULTICAST flag set yet, and when you restart it with -l debug it does. These type of startup synchronization issues can be worked around with the -d SEC option which delays the probe of interfaces when the daemon starts up.
