For the many of us out there that use OpenVPN, what is the most elegant way to get CAKE to work properly in this context? I believe by default QOS is applied to eth0 and so VPN traffic is just seen as a single flow to (likely) a single remote IP and port. Everything in the tunnel will look the same to CAKE. Is the solution here to change the interface(s)?
By way of background context, if I set CAKE to 5/5 I get A+ bufferbloat ratings.
But as soon as I enable my VPN via OpenVPN (NordVPN/UDP), I get terrible bufferbloat, especially on download.
So I believe that CAKE + OpenVPN is not being well handled in Asus-Merlin at the moment.
And yet this is surely a very typical use case?
