Commit signing has always been an unpopular requirement for contributing to this repo. Partly because it has never been clearly communicated as a requirement until after a PR has been posted, at which point the author would have to configure git and rebase their PR to get their commits signed.
If you'd like to sign your commits, then please do! It's a simple, easy, and effective way to give provenance and tamper-proof your commits.
It's just an encouragement for this repo now, not a requirement. ❤️
