System Freeze During Browser and App Usage — Possible XWayland or GPU Instability (Bluefin / GNOME 47)

Describe the bug

While watching a movie in Stremio (Electron app) on Bluefin (GNOME 47.5 + Wayland), my entire system froze and became unresponsive. A forced reboot was required.

Log analysis shows:

• XWayland crashed, which GNOME Shell considers mandatory, triggering the full desktop exit.

• Dash-to-Dock began spamming rendering errors after the crash, suggesting it failed to recover or contributed to the instability.

What did you expect to happen?

I expected to watch a movie in Stremio without the system freezing or requiring a forced reboot.

This issue occurred while watching a movie in Stremio (Electron app). Since Electron apps often rely on XWayland under Wayland, it seems like the XWayland crash caused GNOME Shell to exit completely. This was followed by Dash-to-Dock spamming rendering errors.

Major Update: Two More Freezes — Zen Browser (YouTube) + Chromium (ChatGPT Web App)

Freeze 2:

• Happened while watching a YouTube video in Zen Browser.
• System froze completely and required a forced reboot.
• Log collection was accidentally overwritten by the next freeze's logs.

Freeze 3:

• Happened while typing into ChatGPT inside Chromium (installed as a web app).
• No video playback — just normal typing interaction.
• System froze completely and required another forced reboot.
• Log collection: latest-previous-boot.log, latest-previous-boot-errors.log.

Additional Context

• Freeze 2 involved YouTube playback (heavy video rendering) in Zen Browser.
• Freeze 3 involved simple text input, no media playback.
• Common factor: Both freezes occurred during graphically intensive browser usage (video rendering or web app interaction) on a Wayland session.
• Possible cause: Fatal crash of XWayland or instability in Wayland + GPU stack, leading to complete session freeze.
