GNOME System Extensions are old, unsupported for Fedora 44/GNOME 50

Recently updated to bluefin latest-44.20260503.1.

Several GNOME extensions (system-wide) are not updated, and are deactivated for GNOME 50:

• appindicatorsupport@rgcjonas.gmail.com
• caffeine@patapon.info
• dash-to-dock@patapon.info
• gsconnect@andyholmes.github.io

Biggest offender is dash-to-dock.

What did you expect to happen?

Up to date extensions.

Seems the dependency dashboard is not picking up these extensions. Only blur-my-shell was updated, but the rest of versions are old.

Anyway, had to rebase back to F43/G49.

As a "temporary fix," you can disable extension version validation with this command:

gsettings set org.gnome.shell disable-extension-version-validation true

Last time I did GNOME just crashed. I'll wait until a proper fix.

Regarding AppIndicator, that doesn't work for most apps since Gnome 48. Most if not all common distros added the mandatory library (since v48 disabled compatibility for any non-GTK4 app) necessary for these apps (pre-GTK4 apps). I created an issue here to suggest this library is added to the main image, it's in the Fedora rpm repositories:

Additionally, note that extensions that are required for anyone who isn't charmed by the MacOS-like desktop, were Gnome 50 compatible before v50 had its final release:

I know there is no guideline, no rules defined by uBlue/Bluefin to decide what gets included and what not (like an app to be able to execute music files). But I hope in the future this will happen instead of subjective thoughts. Then hopefully these two can be added (I'd recommend Allow Locked Remote Desktop, Desktop Icons, Removable Drive Menu, Tiling Shell as well btw, all are v50 compatible).

I see a lot of branches/tags being old, and seems that updating is done manually.

There should be a script to retrieve the latest release/tag and set it.

Will that also solve the issue #4464 for GTK3 apps, their app indicators not being shown due to missing library that is required since Gnome v48?
