Environment:
• Working build: 44.20260630 (2026-06-30), digest sha256:7a74b963dced8b496ea2359193d100c1b7b473b8019982a5b8dd7899adbb4645
• Broken build: 44.20260707 (2026-07-07), digest sha256:80472e0741fc0f544771c83a133882787c9a7ece74d64adf543ff617cdc6124c
• GPU: Intel Arc Graphics (Meteor Lake-P), driver i915/xe
• GNOME Shell: 50.2 (working) → 50.3 (broken)
• Blur my Shell extension version: 72
Description:
After updating from build 44.20260630 to 44.20260707, dark gray rectangular artifacts appear behind blurred UI elements managed by the Blur my Shell extension, affecting all zones (top panel, dash, overview). This produces visible dark square corners around blurred surfaces.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Boot on build 44.20260707
2. Enable Blur my Shell (default or reset preferences)
3. Observe persistent dark rectangles behind blurred surfaces in panel/dash/overview
Expected behavior:
No artifacts, as on build 44.20260630.
Troubleshooting already performed:
• Reset all Blur my Shell preferences → no change
• Rolled back via rpm-ostree rollback to 44.20260630 → issue disappeared, confirming a regression introduced between the two builds
• Confirmed not extension-config-related; occurs across all blurred zones

Suspected cause:
Likely a Mutter (clipped-redraw handling) or Mesa Intel driver (anv/iris) regression, given the extension's own documentation notes that gaussian blur artifacts stem from GNOME Shell's implementation of clipped redraws, and both gnome-shell and mesa were updated in this window.
Full package diff: available on request (27 packages upgraded, runc removed).
What did you expect to happen?
I expected 2 + 2 to equal 4, but instead 2 + 2 equaled 6!
