Request to Add removable-media Plug to Shotwell Snap Package

I’m a regular user of Shotwell and appreciate having it available as a Snap package. However, I’ve recently noticed that the Snap version does not allow access to external devices like memory cards during import, which is a feature I greatly miss from previous versions.

Upon checking, I saw that the Snap does not declare support for the removable-media interface, even after attempting to connect it manually. Without that plug, Shotwell can’t access mounted memory cards, which limits the app’s usefulness for many users.

Would you consider adding the removable-media plug to the Snap manifest for Shotwell? That small change would restore a much-loved workflow and allow the app to function more like its native version.

Odd, because that interface is available... Have you tried installing "candidate" version? Maybe it's time to promote it to stable...

Ok... I checked the stable version, and it has the "removable-media" plug... Do you have the last version installed?

My Shotwell version: 0.32.13 (Snap)
In Shotwell Preferences -> Plugins, there is no "removable-media" plugin.

This command did not show any plugin although Shotwell Preferences -> Plugins shows following:-

• Data Imports
• Publishing
• Slideshow Transitions.

Will the same version from different source (Snap / Flatpak / Native APT) behaves differently?

Hmmm... But we are talking about snap plugs, not Shotwell specific plugins, aren't we...?

I mean: to enable access to external media, you must connect the snap plug. You can do that either from "Gnome Settings", going to Applications->Shotwell, and enabling the corresponding plug (sorry, Spanish interface)

or using command line: sudo snap connect shotwell:removable-media

Actually, I can access the RAW files in the SD card from folder.

However, In Menu "File", there is only "Import from folder". I remembered there is something like "Import from Memory card".

Hmm... Maybe you need to enable raw-usb in the snap plugs?
