Internal server error upon play when the answer choice text exceeds a certain length

We are running Materia 10.3.0. I have updated to the latest This-or-That widget in hopes it would resolve the issue, but we're still experiencing it. If one or both answer choices in a text-only this-or-that question reaches a certain length (unsure of the exact count), it works fine while previewing, but when a student attempts to play the widget, we're getting an internal error when attempting to update the play log. I created a new instance myself and played with various lengths. If one paragraph of lorem ipsum is included, it works fine. Two paragraphs lead to the error message and prevent the play.

Is there a possible bug in the widget or is there a server setting we need to look into on our end?

Hey @mrash2 , sorry for the slow reply to this. If I had to guess, significant text like that may be overflowing the character limit of a log field in the database when it attempts to store the play logs. You may find the application error logs insightful: they would be present in fuel/app/logs/ on the phpfpm docker container. In the short term I would advise you avoid text questions of excessive length.

We are already working on a fairly significant update to This or That to make it responsive to various aspect ratios, clean up some buggy styling, and implement a secondary skin for the player we're colloquially calling "business mode". While we're in there, we can apply a stricter character limit to the text inputs to at least prevent the widget from causing server errors.
