Your use case is a strong fit. QualCoder is designed for exactly the kind of mixed-audience setting you're describing - researchers already working with qualitative data who need an open, reproducible alternative to NVivo. The health sciences and public health angle is one we haven't seen piloted yet, so that would be genuinely useful feedback for the lesson.

The lesson is in beta and has been piloted several times at Virginia Tech and at IASSIST 2025. Authors are Nathaniel Porter (Virginia Tech) and Sebastian Karcher (Syracuse), and I'd like to connect you directly with them to coordinate.

A few quick questions before I make that intro: Do you have a rough window in mind for summer - early summer, July, August? And are you thinking a single session or something spread across multiple days?

Hi Tim, Thanks for your response! Our Schools of Medicine and Public Health professors were really eager to get started, and I actually did a brief (1-hour) overview of QualCoder yesterday afternoon. There was a great response and already one research group is interested in exploring QualCoder for their project. https://libguides.gwu.edu/qualitative/qualcoder I will reach out to the group to gauge further interest, but I expect that a one-day session toward the end of August would work well. Emily, this is great, and the early interest from Medicine and Public Health is exactly the signal we hoped for. End of August for a one-day session works well. I've opened a coordination issue on the lesson repo and connected you with the authors there, Nathaniel Porter at Virginia Tech and Sebastian Karcher:
