24 hour accumulation

I am trying to set atmospheric output frequency to 24 hours. I set export FHOUT_GFS="24", but in looking at the grib headers in (for example) GFSPRS.GrbF48, it looks like I must have missed an additional setting for having accumulation also be for 24 hours. E.g., kwbc 20160301 fc regular_ll 42-48 surface 0 prate grid_complex_spatial_differencing.

If I am reading this correctly, the reported prate is only for the last 6 hours of the output period. Is there another variable I need to set to accumulate for the full 24?
