Are server-side pageviews possible?

Is there a way to also send pageviews via API? Docs seem to say 'events' only, but are pageviews maybe just another variety of an event?

No you can not. You could send page views manually to the API. But you don't have all the parameters because the server will not know the screen size.

Then you are pointing to the correct docs.
The docs are not obvious, but a pageview is an event.
You can leave the name field empty, that is only for custom events.
