Hi @rjgabel, thanks for your interest. There are several unique challenges in this space involving how to interoperate between multiple OSes and how they all handle locales and preferences differently than Unicode handles them. A compelling proposal will demonstrate an understanding of these nuances, your qualifications to solve the problem, and specific deliverables and milestones. A focused, concise proposal is often better than a wordy, verbose one.

• Researching Issue Improve collator strength benchmarking #6509 (collator strength benchmarking)

Could someone point me to the GSoC project ideas or guide me on how to prepare my application?

Unicode was not accepted as an organization participating in GSoC 2026.

I’m sorry to hear this news but I really appreciate what you’ve all done with the criteria guide. I would like to still be involved with the expansion of contributions to the Unicode projects in the long term, beyond Google Summer of Code, so please let me know if there are ways for me to get involved.
I look forward to contributing to these projects.
