Description
In terms of general design, I think we probably want to implement a general “ground control” module, which can support the following for user-defined AOI and date range:
- Retrieval of permanent (and potentially campaign) GNSS control position(s) for a specific datetime or datetime range, which will be sparse, but hopefully coincident in time, and should have global coverage (Add GPS/GNSS Stations to Search #25)
- This could come from EarthScope, NGS, or Nevada Geodetic Lab (https://geodesy.unr.edu/NGLStationPages/gpsnetmap/GPSNetMap.html)
- Retrieval of all NGS survey mark control monuments for a given AOI within the U.S., with some basic filtering to isolate the “best" GCPs

- Need to define relevant 3D CRS transformations to return points in a common CRS (likely NAD83(2011) for now, eventually NATRF2022) - something to consider for https://github.com/uw-cryo/3D_CRS_Transformation_Resources
- There is also the question of whether we can retrieve available USGS 3DEP GCPs and check points, either provided by the 3DEP airborne lidar provider in auxiliary folders (OPR) or in the standardized 3DEP project structure (preferred, if possible, assuming CRS is well defined)
- These points should already be split into non-vegetated vertical accuracy (NVA) points and vegetated vertical accuracy (VVA) points.
- This functionality may belong in 3DEP module.
