Perplexity Shortcut

Perplexity Shortcut is a Chrome extension that provides quick access to Perplexity AI search with customizable shortcuts and context menu integration.

Features

  • Quick Search: Use a keyboard shortcut (Alt+Q on Windows/Linux, Option+Q on Mac) to instantly access Perplexity's search from any webpage.
  • Context Menu Integration: Right-click on selected text to search it directly on Perplexity.
  • Customizable Settings:
    • Toggle between dark and light mode
    • Adjust the size of the search input
    • Choose to open search results in a new tab or the current tab

Installation

From Chrome Web Store

  1. Visit the Chrome Web Store page for Perplexity Shortcut
  2. Click "Add to Chrome"
  3. Confirm installation and proceed with setup steps

Manual Installation

  1. Clone this repository or download the ZIP file
  2. Open Chrome and go to chrome://extensions/
  3. Enable "Developer mode" in the top right corner
  4. Click "Load unpacked" and select the directory containing the extension files
  5. Confirm installation and proceed with setup steps

Usage

  • Press Alt+Q (Windows/Linux) or Option+Q (Mac) to open the Perplexity search input
  • Type your query and press Enter to search
  • Right-click on any selected text and choose "Search Perplexity for '[selected text]'" from the context menu

Customization

  1. Click on the extension icon in the Chrome toolbar
  2. Adjust settings such as dark/light mode and input size
  3. Click "Save Settings" to apply changes
