List of variations within categories in most-frequently borrowed order

Can we order the items in the variations in the following order: the one that have been borrowed the most times are displayed first?

I am wondering if having a stable sorting which doesn't change over time will be better? If the sorting rules are dynamic the items will be in different places over time, which might make them harder to find. What do you think?
