When first navigate to a Twitch stream no audio can be heard

When navigating to a twitch stream I get no audio (volume slider unmuted). I have to click on another stream from the sidebar and then click back to the original stream I wanted to watch (not using browser back, but have to click on it again from the sidebar etc.).

I'm not able to replicate this. The plugin works for me on Twitch without any issue like this. Do you have any other extensions that could be interfering? Like, I know FrankerFaceZ has a compressor built in now. Maybe something else is trying to access the audio and there's a conflict?

I have some similar experience running firefox 143.0.1 on Macbook Air M4 with macos 26.

A twitch stream with compressor enabled just got muted while running and sound only came back when disabling compressor and then reloading the tab. Sadly this was only one time and I cannot reproduce.

But when viewing twitch clips then everytime I enable the compressor the sound is gone until disabling and reloading. Maybe that is a similar cause and helps you find the root?

The issue with clips is the same as issue #2. Clips load from a different domain, so the browser mutes it when you try to modify the audio from script.

Ran into this issue and found a solution on an old reddit thread.

If you're using FireFox you'll have to change the "Permissions" for Twitch in your browser.

If you go to Twitch.tv's main site, look at your URL/address line and you should see 3 icons: a shield, a lock, and... another icon. Don't know what it's supposed to represent. Click the 3rd icon and you should see an option for "Autoplay" and a drop-down menu. If you click the drop-down, select "Allow Audio and Video" and this will resolve the issue. Found this in a reddit thread and thought it might be useful to others.
