question about the package name

I wonder whether the current package name vlbuildr, though very accurate about what it does in a technical manner, would grant it enough visibility compared to other functional visualization libraries. Have you considered alternatives which would be less technical and more lyrical about the package’s end purpose, which is about designing visualizations?

Following the star constellation naming of altair, vega, etc a little wiki research would for example hint to Cygnus:

hi @g3o2 -- I am not at all attached to the name vlbuildr and am open to less awkward/technical names!

I actually did consider the star based names originally, for the reason you describe -- considered deneb, which is the brightest star in Cygnus and is the third vertex of the "Summer Triangle" with altair and vega. I was worried though about the google-ability because there are lots of search results for the constellation or star. I actually run into that when searching for Altair -- I have to remember to put something viz or python to get the package as the top result, and that package has already become very popular.

I'll think about it some more, and am also open to additional suggestions!

hi @AliciaSchep, when i’m looking for an R package I usually add the word “cran” to find it. Even as popular packages as data.table are difficult to google without this small addition. So given that, I think creativity can take its way 😎
