What happened?
Hope I'm reproting this in the right place & format, if not apologies:
Rebuilding my ventoy disk from scratch using ventoy-1.1.12 (tar.gz package), when I attempt to run VentoyGUI.x86_64 as a regular user it starts OK presents the Authentication dialog and crashes on clicking authenticate. Running from terminal gives following output. Trying to run via sudo crashes without attempting to authenticate.
Terminal Output Regular User
19:58:31:installer$ ./VentoyGUI.x86_64
Authorization required, but no authorization protocol specified
(Ventoy2Disk.gtk3:99327): Gtk-WARNING **: 19:58:41.782: cannot open display: :1
Terminal Output Sudo User
19:58:41:installer$ sudo ./VentoyGUI.x86_64
Authorization required, but no authorization protocol specified
(Ventoy2Disk.gtk3:99342): Gtk-WARNING **: 19:58:53.271: cannot open display: :1
WORKAROUNDS
Non-Graphical installer works fine.
Running the ventoy-1.1.07 Graphical installer, followed by CLI upgrade to 1.1.12 works fine on same pop-os install so this appears on first sight to be a regression somewhere between v1.1.07 & the current version.
