Help Me Understand the Pattern Interface

According to the CurseForge description:

Pattern Interface : Somewhat like the me interface, but it accepts recipes from jei and generates a pattern, placing it next to Molecular Assembler as if it were using the me interface. (Don't put it next to the me interface, it will accept items from the me interface)

I don't understand what this is saying. I put it next to a molecular assembler? If I do, what happens? I know that it accepts JEI/NEI recipes, but how does it generate a pattern? How is this useful over Left-Control + Click in the crafting terminal? This description makes no sense to me.
