I saw the same thing and opened an issue with a suggestion. Looks like on a free plan the memory is not enough. There are a few options that are just pay or upgrade, like use npm package instead of source, but that might be the best option. Going to play around with this and report back later today.

openclaw devices list
openclaw devices approve <requestId>

Not a crash — “disconnected (1008): pairing required” means the gateway is up but no device has been approved yet.

Fix (no SSH needed): go to /setup → Debug Console:

• openclaw devices list
• openclaw devices approve <requestId>
