The dev seem to not be super active on his repos at the moment, I hope he is doing okay and can get back to it eventually.

In the meantime, I made this pull request to fix the issue #596
But I'm not sure when it will be merged, it might be a while.

If you want to fix the issue, you can use this PKGBUILD here https://github.com/tristanmsct/orchis-theme-git, based on the code from my PR as a temporary fix.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean
I forked the repo in its latest state, you can use my fork to install the patch, either by using the PKGBUILD in the previous link or by cloning this branch of my fork : https://github.com/tristanmsct/Orchis-theme/tree/fix-gnome50-sidebar and installing it manually
