When I am writing, I often want to check ma reference or my idea against some internet knowledge. And the ability to select a few words and right - click, search on internet is a time-saver.

There's already a feature planned for that, #763, but it's not high priority.

My idea there was that you could define some lookup URL templates in settings similar to the search bar in browsers, and it would search the text you select using that URL template.
