Would it be possible to add the color to mark spelling mistakes to the theme files?

Currently it seems the color used to indicate spelling mistakes (the lines below the misspelled words) doesn't change with the theme.

With light themes, this color is perfectly ok. It's clearly visible, in that case.

All this changes when you change to a dark theme. All of a sudden the line indicating a spelling mistake is barely visible and easy to miss.

I'm not exactly certain whether this is something which cannot be changed (as for statically defined in Qt, for example) or it is simply something which was never considered for inclusion in the various themes.

I would be very happy if this could be changed with the theme, as I generally use a dark theme, but like to be aware of my spelling mistakes.

The errorline and spellcheckline settings in the syntax theme files define these colours. It looks fine for the dark themes I normally use, but it could be it's not properly set for other themes. I didn't create all of them.

Which theme specifically causes problems?

Edited this because there are two settings. One for formatting errors and one for spelling errors.

I seem to have trouble with all dark themes regarding this. Light themes are not a problem. Perhaps a brighter tint of red should be chosen or the line below the misspelled word could be made thicker?

Could my monitor or desktop environment (Cinnamon) I use affect this?

You can copy the existing theme files and modify them. Just copy them to the Application Data area on your computer and edit the settings. Remember to rename the themes when you do, otherwise they are indistinguishable in the Preferences list.

If you find some settings that work, maybe that can be used to update the official themes.

I've been tinkering with the "Default Dark 2" theme. The only way it's different is the background, spellcheck color, and errorcolor. spellcheck and errorcolor are much more legible for me now. Here's the file and a screenshot with an example.

What if you change the line type from a squigly line to a straight line?

It isn't explicitly set to squiggly, it's set to use the platform default underline style for spell errors.

Too bad double underline is not available. That would be much easier to read.
