Transitioning from 2.7rc1 -> 2.7 gives a warning from the package manager

Situation:
Have 2.7rc1 installed.
Install 2.7

Result:
Package manager warns about a newer version already being installed on the system.

Expected result:
2.7 is installed like normal.

OS: Linux Mint 22.1

If I need to complain with the developers of my distribution, I'll happily knock on their door, but I figured I'd check here in case there's a mistake with packaging.

How are you installing 2.7, and how did you install 2.7 RC 1?

Apt package version parsing is incredibly fickle and doesn't fully follow common semantic versioning rules.

EDIT: Apparently I'm wrong. Version 2.7 is available in the repos Mint uses.

Which repos?

I was wrong... NW isn't available in the repos of Mint. I thought so because it showed up in the software manager, however that was only the manual install I had which showed up, not from one of the repos.

There is no problem using Launchpad on Mint. It's just not as straightforward as on Ubuntu which it is designed for and where it is integrated into the package manager,

I now have NW configured in Launchpad. I've figured it out. 😄 No more fiddling with manually downloaded packages. If only I had realized it was this easy earlier.
