Organizing Characters with sub-sections

Hi all,

I'm new to novelWriter and just starting to try it out. I've been looking for a way to separate a Character description into sub-sections. Like I have one Character, with a general description, and I'd like to add collapsible sub-sections under the Character with like "Back history", "Capabilities", "Notes on family tree", etc. Is there a way to do this that I've missed? Or is the only option to add headings within the description?

You would have to use sub headings, yes. And there is no way to collapse headers inside of a document, but you can create a new document for each section and add them as sub-documents to the main character doc. Like this:

You have to create the "Backstory" document first, and then drag and drop it onto the character document to make it a sub document.

You can also write a document with multiple headings and then right click and select "Transform" > "Split Document by Headings". That will let you select "Create document hierarchy", which will produce the same result as in the screenshot above.
