Icon not showing on Windows taskbar

Currently, the taskbar icon in Windows is a default taskbar icon, and not one specific to NovelWriter. The application should have a distinct taskbar icon.

On which Windows is that? Did you install novelWriter, or just run it from code? Which version of novelWriter are you running?

I'm running Windows 11, and running version 2.8.2. The Python icon displays instead of the NovelWriter icon.

You didn't answer how you installed novelWriter.

If you used the Windows installer, then I'm not sure what's different on your system, because I tried an uninstall and reinstall on Windows 11 and could not reproduce the issue.

I used the installer numbered:

novelwriter-2.8.2-amd64-setup.exe

I've tried again to uninstall and reinstall novelWriter in different ways on Windows 11, and whatever I do, I cannot make it not show the correct icon. So whatever is happening on your system, I cannot reproduce it.

• Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it?
• Is this the first time you install it, and if not, what versions have you installed before?
• Do you already have a Python environment on the computer that could override the icon?
