How to remove an object from a picture (presumably by using inpainting)

I am trying to remove an object from an image (leaving behind a consistent background) and failing. Any guidance on how to achieve this?

I've seen a mask button "LaMa remove selected object" in control inpaint, but it doesn't seem to do anything when I press it. It just outputs something like the log below, but I don't see any effect at all. Am I missing some component?

Also, I no longer see the options "latent noise", "original", "latent nothing" etc anywhere in the mask menu.
