govc guest.run

When running govc guest.run or govc guest.upload through vCenter URL I get:

govc: Get "https://esx3:443/guestFile?id=638&token=<removed>": dial tcp 10.12.12.243:443: connect: connection refused

Other commands such as guest.ps or guest.ls work fine.

Does the host that executes govc needs https access to the ESXi?
I was under the impression only vCenter access was sufficient for govc, all the ESXi hosts are on firewalled network segments.

ESX host access is required for guest file transfer. The guest.run command redirects std{in,out,err} to files using the guest.FileManager APIs. You can use guest.start to run a program without access to ESX, but won't be able to capture the command output via govc.
