Logs stopping short in the 3321 to 3353 KB ranges.

I've been having issues with the log rotator stopping early at around the 3321 to 3353 KB range. All three of the last events I did that went long and hit that file size have stopped early. I'm using Windows 11 24H2 OS Build 26100.6584

Path to log is set to C:\Users\jeffr\OneDrive\Documents\Neverwinter Nights\logs
Output Directory is set to C:\Users\jeffr\OneDrive\Documents\Neverwinter Nights\logs

I'm using filter lines: Examine, Back, Next, Done, Backward, Ready, Following, Previous, unknown, item's, PVP
Player log Mode is on
Start in Tray is on
Save Backup is on
21 lines minimum to save log
Path To Client: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps

Any ideas on what could be causing this or is there any way I could diagnose this problem?

Hey. Gonna try to issue a patch a potential issue related to this in the next few days but can you try moving the directories off OneDrive as a test and see if that is the culprit?

I'll try to but my effort to move the game out Neverwinter's default location of Onedrive by using Steams code -UserDirectory "C:\Games\Neverwinter Nights"
in the games general tab selected launch option seems not be allowing the logs to save to the original Nwclientlog1? I did copy my files over exactly from the Neverwinter Onedrive Documents folder, and didn't have any issues logging into the server I play on which was surprising. The logging options had X's in them in the game options.

When exactly does the game overwrite the original nwclientlog1.txt though? I did open the game back up after doing a battle run through.

I noticed that the rest of my log from last night was in the original nwclientlog2.txt file so it just didn't get picked up by NWNLogRotator.

Edit: Strike that got it set up and working on my C: drive and the log file generated in on the version of NWNLogRotator that cut off the files, now I just got to get enough time to generate that file.

Ok, I dropped that new version of NWN Log Rotator in a file on the Windows Desktop set the files to the same paths I put in the first message here and pointed it path to log C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Neverwinter Nights\bin\win32\nwmain.exe and it gave an error "NWNLogRotator could not read the Log at the PathtoLog specified".

Neverwinter Nights didn't have any issues saving the log file to nwclientLog1.txt but I've had this problem in the past with other versions of NWNLogRotator. Windows desktop is also backed up by OneDrive these days, maybe that has something to do with that issue.

Hey just read your comment again. Can you confirm what path your log is reading from? It's not nwmain.exe? Should be a directory.

I really recommend not using C:\Program files for logs if you can avoid it, permissions and all. C:\Something is the most neutral, but at least in your documents folder, your windows user should own it. If you have to, maybe try running NWNLogRotator as admin.

I copied all my files that were in the Onedrive/ Documents/ Neverwinter Nights folder then went to Steam/ Library/ Neverwinter/ Right click mouse/ Properties/ General/ Launch Options/ Typed code -UserDirectory "C:\Games\Neverwinter Nights" to point the Steam to the proper place where I put the files.

I have my log files for NWNLogRotator pointed to "C:\Games\Neverwinter Nights\logs\NWN Rotator Logs" which is the same path I put in NWNLogRotator's output directory section.

NWNLogRotator's Path to Log is C:\Games\Neverwinter Nights\logs\nwclientLog1.txt.

Steam is installed as it would install from their website

I've pointed NWN's LogRotator Launcher section to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Neverwinter Nights\bin\win32\nwmain.exe

The NWNLogRotator's program folder is C:\Users\jeffr\OneDrive\Desktop\NWNLogRotatorBeta\NWNLogRotator-x64.exe. Currently trying the beta NWNLogRotator you made, but I'm not getting any luck saving it to NWNLogRotator.

I deleted all the files out of the OneDrive Neverwinter Documents folder and it got rid of all the settings I made for the game so those were going there as well instead of the new directory I made. It looks like when I opened Neverwinter Nights again it rebuilt the base folders into that folder.

The game is still writing the logfiles from OneDrive's/ Documents/ Neverwinter Nights log file folder Instead of the one on put on the C Drive because it LogRotator didn't meet the minimum 5 rows or place it it in the new directory I was trying to force it into. Seems like you would need a more advanced Steam Launch Option or something.

So, I was able to unlink my Microsoft Account then remove the linked documents folder from it which from what I can tell made it a local documents folder. I removed the Steam launch setting so everything is using the Local documents folder as it is programed to do. I tested with the original version that I grabbed from the vault and it seems that this didn't stop the HTML logs from being cut off at when it switches to nwclientLog2.txt without OneDrive in the mix.

I'm getting an output directory invalid from the newer version you made with the same paths and Launcher settings that I used with the Vault version but it does make a HTML log that you can only access once you dismiss the output directory invalid warning.

Are you saying that there's a nwclientLog1.txt /and/ a nwclientLog2.txt when it's long enough? When I made this, I really don't remember it ever being more than one log. If it is now, I definitely need to refactor some stuff.

Yes, multiple files of nwclientlog and there all in there at the same time. It makes one log Nwclientlog1.txt then at some point Neverwinter Nights EE starts another log nwclientlog2, (I'm assuming NWN EE is doing this) and I even pushed up to nwclientlog3. Seems like back in the day it used to just rewrite over the previous nwclientlog1. I have no idea if there is a limit to how many more files will be made.

There is also copy's of these files being made for some reason as well though this is probably due to me trying to get Neverwinter Nights out of One Drive a while back, and not succeeding.
