Connection takes a while to timeout on dmdserver

While experimenting with zedmdos, I noticed that if the device is shut off, if you start VPX standalone, it will "freeze" for a little over a minute before giving up and starting to play the game. Maybe there is a socket timeout value we can look into? (fwiw, I've only tried this with iOS)
