Description
During testing of VPW's update of Stargate, I realised that the Eye of Ra mode often (but not always) continues with only one ball in play, and that you can play through all three stages and the subsequent normal multiball. I've searched online to see if I can get any confirmation that it is possible. Everything I've found though talks about the mode stopping if you are down to one ball.
This rulesheet, for instance, says it stops when you are down to one ball.
"Eye of Ra will end any time you wind up with less than 2 balls in play."
http://www.pinball.org/rules/stargate.html
So does the manual
"THE EYE OF RA ALSO ENDS IF THE PLAYER RETURNS TO 1 BALL I N PLAY DURING ANY STAGE."
https://www.lupinball.com.br/download/2024.12.18-15.24.28.pdf
VPW checked and double-checked to see that all the switches etc. are set up correctly, and they are quite sure that it is the case.
To reproduce:
- you need to start all six the qualifying modes (see in the centre of the playfield in a circle around an eye symbol)
- each mode is started in the pyramid. You don't need to do anything to qualify a mode.
- none of the modes have a completion goal i.e. you just need to start a mode for it to count.
- once you've played all six modes, you can start Eye of Ra in the pyramid.
- Eye of Ra starts off with a four ball multiball.
- it has three stages. At the end of the first two stages, you get a super jackpot, and more balls are put into play so that you are back to a four ball multiball.
- according to the rules, if you lose your multiball during any of the stages, the mode ends.
- that is not the case though, as often when you are down to one ball, the mode just incorrectly continues.
Here is a YouTube video showing the issue i.e. the mode continuing if you are down to one ball.
In this video, the mode ends correctly when I'm down to one ball. Eye of Ra starts at 10:59, and I lose my multiball, ending the mode at 11:40.
