Timeline for Stable v2 Release

Happy New Year to the VitePress team and community! 🎉

I’d like to ask if there’s an expected timeline for the stable release of VitePress v2.

I’ve been following the project closely. The improvements in v2 look fantastic, and I’m excited to adopt it in production once the stable release is available.

I would like some insight on this, too. Understanding that time estimation is not easy, is there a checklist of requirements or goals for the v2 milestone?

I discovered some insight on this from a comment in issue #5201 from two days ago:

Regarding the 2.0 release, we are trying to land all the planned breaking changes soon and once they are done we will move to beta. It's hard to say when that will be currently. Most likely no sooner than September. I was away for a few months in between. I've resumed the development since then. Also, @bluwy is now helping with the maintenance. We are down over 100 issues in the last month or so.

Regarding the vulnerabilities on v1, most of them have very limited impact (check respective reports). The vulnerabilities on the esbuild dev server are not relevant as vite doesn't use it. If you want you can override vite to something from v6. vite v6 is still receiving security updates and I think it should be compatible with vitepress v1.
