Is the rhythmic position fraction a fraction of the measure duration, or a fraction of a whole note? Is [1, 4] the same position in 4/4 and 3/4, or would you need [1, 3] to represent a quarter note's duration in 3/4? |

It's a fraction of a whole note. So
[1, 4]is the same position in 4/4 and 3/4 time.
