How are multiple notes on the same staff line determined to play at the same time ?

Very beginner question, but I'm trying to understand how the file structure for musicxml works. Let's say that in a staff line theres multiple notes being played, and they're not chords and not in the same voice. Is there a way to determine what is playing on the same staff line?

(I think I found my own answer) -> In musicscore I see the same "Beat: # " when clicking on notes on the same staff line. Is there something equivalent to the musicxml file?

is that exclusively for MuseScore or can it be seen in the musicxml file?

The MusicXML tutorial is for all 200+ applications that use MusicXML, not for any single software. Of course not all those apps support tablature, but lots of them do.
