Touchpoints with OGC activities

The OGC has a wide range of related activities that are undergoing a rapid evolution.

To engage with these needs formal engagement with relevant Working Groups, and both W3C and OGC groups will benefit from sharing and coordination.

The Joint OGC/W3C Spatial Data on the Web Working Group has a proposed re-charter at https://w3c.github.io/charter-drafts/2024/sdw-wg.html

The key point is that OGC WG can propose deliverables to be jointly published. OGC can already open WG to outside participants, so its easy for W3C members to engage this way.

Activities to consider in the light of Smart Cities:

• Digital Twins WG
• Work on developing a canonical RDF reprsentation of CityGML (project planning to bring to CityGML SWG)
• 3D extensions to GeoSPARQL - Use Case - and public consultation to capture other requirements(template link to be provided...) (Note GeoSPARQL to be published under SDW)
• OGC BuildingBlocks - approach to fine grained specifications and testing integration of related models - in particular using JSON-L to link JSON schema to ontologies. See in particular this example: Using a SmartCities schema as OGC API Feature payload

Also note work on profiling DCAT - https://github.com/opengeospatial/GeoDCAT-SWG - note that the W3C DXWG (publisher of DCAT) explicitly chose not to define profiling mechanisms for DCAT, so coordination around this will be critical.
