Single post - Usefulness of comment "Reply" link once the reply form is open?

To reply to a blog post comment there is a "Reply" link.
When that link is clicked the reply form opens and the "Reply" link stays.

Current behavior:

As that reply link becomes useless once the reply form is open, shouldn't that link disappear once clicked?

You are right, this isn't ideal functionality. However when a user opens the form we believe their focus will be on adding the comment rather than the link. We could add some javascript to reveal / hide it as needed, but this seems a low priority. I've added the label as low priority and if we have time left at the end of the project we can address it. If you feel otherwise about the priority let us know.
