Feature Requests

First off, a huge thanks to everyone for this project, superb effort :)

While working through a wagtail-localize site recently, I came up with a bit of a wish list for future releases, maybe some of these ideas are useful:

1. Support for site settings -- Question regarding translations of site settings #234
2. Support for snippets with unique=true fields (I believe this is tied to the site settings issue) -- Snippets with unique=true fields not translating #484, Error when trying to translate Snippet #233
3. When translating the title of a page, and no translation of the slug has occurred, automatically generate a translated slug based on the translated title as per default behaviour on non-translation pages (something editors overlook doing since they rarely set the original slug)
4. Option to delete translated objects when deleting the parent object. Currently, each translated object also has to be deleted one by one. Editors are forgetting to do this leaving lots of orphans. -- Cascade deletions/unpublishes to languages? #15
5. Option to disable creating snippets outside of the default locale. This can lead to all sorts of mess if a snippet is created in a child locale. Generally snippets are required across all locales, a simple option to declare in the class would help.
6. Flag translated fields as out of sync rather than remove them from the translation (I've made this request previously, just here for completeness)
7. Make the locale of the instance being added or edited available as a property of the class of the instance. There are times you need to make dynamic forms or validation tests that rely on the locale, but this is unavailable. Locale.get_current() only shows the language the editor is working in, not of the object instance. It's possible to scrape it from the form URL for edit handlers, but this is clunky and unreliable (URL format could change in future Wagtail releases). For validation in the clean() method, there is no way to access the query string needed to determine the locale for new instances.
