We haven't fully tested on Linux, so I'm not sure. We'll fix this and the other Linux issues soon.

Same issue on Pop OS, it asks for root permissions every time you switch to a monitored window, which then fails regardless of whether you put in the password or not.

I had this same issue, and tracked it down using journalctl -xe to the app attempting to do:

COMMAND=/bin/bash -c echo SUDOPROMPT; chmod +x "/usr/lib/desktop-wakatime/app.asar/node_modules/node-global-key-listener/bin/X11KeyServer

Which is it trying to make the key listener executable.

The problem is that app.asar is a file, and the command should be:

COMMAND=/bin/bash -c echo SUDOPROMPT; chmod +x "/usr/lib/desktop-wakatime/app.asar.unpacked/node_modules/node-global-key-listener/bin/X11KeyServer

Which accesses the unpacked version. That must be correct elsewhere in the code, because manually making that executable with:

sudo chmod +x /usr/lib/desktop-wakatime/app.asar.unpacked/node_modules/node-global-key-listener/bin/X11KeyServer

And then re-starting the desktop app seemed to work.
