M4 compatibility

Hi all,
the Mac is connected via Thunderbolt to a Samsung U28E590 4K Ultra HD, which could do hardware control via MacBook Air. How can I have again the brightness control?

As a control test, can you please try the latest MonitorControl version and see if that works?

Did you try both via USB-C and HDMI?

Anyway, I have an m4 mini here with me now, will set it up and try it. I had only chance to test the M4 iMac so far - with that all is good.

I just did a quick test with the M4 mini. See no issues either with DDC and with resolutions. The max resolution limit was increased from 3072px to 3840px as expected on entry level Macs which is great news.

Not sure @tommo69 what's wrong. I am yet to upgrade macOS to 15.1 (running the shipped 15.0) and tested USB-C/DisplayPort only yet. Will report back if I did a test via HDMI as well.

(note: over USB-C there still seems to be a 3072px HiDPI limit for some reason - even though the max GPU horizontal limit is reported to be higher)

(note 2 - other users report different max available HiDPI resolutions over USB-C for various displays, so there might be a more complicated set of rules now?).

I was wondering if there was an update about the HiDPI limit on the M4. I'm looking forward to the M4 macbook air coming out, and hopefully being able to run 3840 without needing virtual displays.

Were you ever able to figure this out @waydabber ?
Also when you say "USB-C" is that equivalent to Thunderbolt 4?

OK now, brightness control works as expected, don't know what changed, maybe a reboot.
