No DDC with DisplayLink adapter

Hi,

I have 2 Asus VG249QA3 displays.

These displays are plugged into:

• my home PC through Display ports
• my work Macbook Pro M1 via their HDMI ports, through a DisplayLink USB-C hub which is plugged into the MBP - this is required to have more than one external display and not have them simply mirrorred but extended

I'd like to find a way to switch input source programatically instead of having to reach around the physical monitors buttons which are really badly located and require a lot of clicks.

From a basic search it looked like BetterDisplay could help, however I don't see anything related to DDC when looking around the menu. The only place it exists is in the keyboard shortcut section (see screenshot below), but even then, the drop down menu there only lists Default Display and no other option.

Is the fact that I'm using DisplayLink causing issues for DDC to work?

By the way the info relayed by BD below is not accurate, as screen 1 is at 51 brightness, and screen 2 indeed at 100. Using the brightness sliders does work.

Hi there - DisplayLink drivers do not support DDC on macOS. :(

That's so unfortunate, I was afraid of this answer... :'(
Is there another kind of setup that I could have (apart from having a DisplayLink hub) which would allow me to extend my MBP to 2 displays and still have the ability to control the monitors with DDC? Open to suggestions

Yes, you can use some hardware solution to relay DDC to the display somehow.
