App's configuration can't be changed

Description
The app failes to save a configuration change, providing a TypeError: cannot read properties of undefined

This only happens when the internal user has no write permissions. The undefined error should be controlled and the error message should be more descriptive.

Steps to reproduce

1. Go to 'Settings < Configuration'
2. Edit the log level settings and click on save
3. See the error
