Support custom variable to add/modify the generated command

edit the automatically generated command line before executing, by invoking commands with a prefix argument (C-u)

Would be great to have support for this as a custom variable for the cases where general runs could always include something that the user specifically wants in the command, or if a function, then they could have it be programmatically modified.
