Description

The window-drag CSS property allows web content to designate regions of an installed desktop web app’s UI that should behave as draggable window titlebar areas. When applied, user pointer interactions (e.g., click-and-drag) on that region move the top-level application window rather than triggering normal page interaction.

Thanks for filing this issue, @kyerebo. I'm taking some notes here mostly for myself (or another contributor) to create a feature entry file. A check for accuracy on the following would be welcome but not required.

• The name for this is likely to be the name of the property: "window-drag"

• The ID for this feature is likely to be window-drag.

• The description for this feature, in our style, is going to be something like:

  The window-drag: move CSS declaration sets an element as a window drag handle, like a device's app title bars. You can use this to add click-and-drag areas to a progressive web app, often alongside window controls overlay.

• The mdn/browser-compat-data keys for this are likely to be:

  • css.properties.window-drag
  • css.properties.window-drag.none
  • css.properties.window-drag.move

• This does not appear to have shipped yet in any browser. I've flagged this as an early feature. For support status information, I found https://chromestatus.com/feature/5201338641285120 and https://issues.chromium.org/issues/477608113. I did not find any other bugs or standards positions issues.

Hi Daniel! Everything looks accurate to me.
app-region is shipped and supported in Chromium browsers, but the window-drag rename indeed has not shipped yet.
Those are the correct tracking status and bug entries for the feature.
