django-modern-rest in production

We’re in need of migrating our project from Django REST Framework to something else. We have tons of API endpoints, and the migration is supposed to be gradual. I’m considering django-ninja and django-modern-rest. I like django-modern-rest, but it seems very new. I just want to know when to expect django-modern-rest to be production-ready, when the API will be stable, and how many more breaking changes to expect.

Thank you for all the work and for this amazing project, this moves the Django ecosystem in the right direction.

Hi 👋

I don't think that there's a specific date for DMR to become stable. I can't predict this in any way.

What I can predict is:

• We have a "breaking" changes policy since day 1, we always provide agentic prompts to fix any code we break
• I don't think that many things will change since 0.4.0 in terms of the design, I like the core, so I am pretty confident to use it in my own projects
• We will make sure that future realeases will be faster, better documented and have better DX. For example in 0.5.0 we will ship compiled modules for content negotiation that are 35x faster than the current implementation
