that's probably because you did a full sync and sources are now on qpr3. this will need some more work to get going. I'll do that within the next week or 2.

So I worked a bit on the qpr3 bring-up. Unfortunately, it looks like we can't use our stock prebuilt audio hal anymore. It appears that qp3 now wants at least v5.0, whereas our stock one is v4.0. Using the source built audio hal we've had all kinds of annoying audio issues back in the day, so I am really not looking forward to switching to source built v6.0.

I do want to finish the qpr3 bring-up eventually, especially since this will be the last version that will work for our devices (e.g. lineage 22 won't be possible). But I don't know yet how long it will take.

This A14 release cycle has been a real pain, since Google decided to do major changes under the hood for every quarterly release.

As a matter of interest, why will lineage 22 / Android 15 not be possible for these devices?

The main issue is that Google is removing a lot of "dead" code from the source. Unfortunately, that code includes old hal versions and I think even the whole vndk business. AFAIK, you need to be on at least a 4.19 (maybe even 5.4) kernel to get Android 15 working on your device since hal versions are usually tied to kernel versions.

I don't think there is a simple way to keep this dead code since it will conflict with newer Android changes. Pretty sure that Lineage will keep the Android 14 sources supported (with security fixes etc) for as long as possible since a lot of official devices will similarly not be receiving newer Android versions anymore. So there is that at least.

But sadly i can't get this zip to boot yet because of file encryption issue and don't want to format yet. But that is a seperate issue. Maybe i will just get rid of encryption completely... always have problem with it.

That would be it. The machine I was using has only ever been used for building using Docker: the required packages hadn't been installed for normal users :)

I know have a before.sh that works in Docker to do the reverts and the cherry-pick, adn allows Docker to make bulds that - as far as I can tell - seem to work 😄

A bit off topic, but i just tried to do A15 bringup for fun and result is success surprisingly. So A15 is still possible at least for now. No problem so far but not guarantee.
