Piping text block through command (Alt-[pipe])

Extension ryu1kn.edit-with-shell works well with emacs-mcx. Original emacs has Alt-| (pipe) as keybinding.

Can't edit with keyboard preferences directly as sequence contains escape key. With my German keyboard I get the desired keybinding this way in keybindings.json, strange but true:

I type Escape + "|" to invoke edit-with-shell.
