Fan controls do not seem to reference named fans?

I create a fan, select "System Fan #1 nct6687-isa-0a20" and name it "Chassis Fan Front".
I guess I don't understand how the user defined names are implemented because I thought it would be available for selection in the Control I create. The Control simply lists options such as "pwm3 nct6687-isa-0a20".
For now I have named the fans their respective PWM# which I suppose works, but it's odd.

Any advice or clarification would be much appreciated.

Control and fans are different sensors. I know it's odd but it's how it works. Pwm control sensors are used to modify fans speed, while fans sensors only to monitor the speed. You can see it as input/output

np :) You can change the name "Control 1", but not the actual sensor name
