1. Ability to choose max video length in docker compose environment (e.g. folder with many videos, only videos with less than 10mins are selected)
2. Ability to start videos from random place in the middle instead of always at the start would help with long videos over 1hr long
3. Ability to segment videos (probably more of a second project here) into chunks for Erin project

Thanks a lot for the kind words, and also for opening the issue with all those great ideas.

I have researched a bit, and I found that :

• For the first idea : It seems unfeasible or very impractical. In its current state, the project holds absolutely all the logic in the browser, in Javascript. For that reason, filtering videos based on duration would be difficult. That is because, to find the duration of a video, Javascript needs to fetch its metadata. So, assuming a folder with N videos, JS would have to launch at least N HTTP requests (one per video) to fetch its metadata, and then, based on that metadata, include or exclude videos based on duration. If I am not mistaken, doing all that process "manually" on the server would be much easier. I don't know what is your exact use-case, but you could maybe organize your videos into folders that correspond to duration buckets (ex: 1 min, 2-5 minutes, 6-10 minutes, etc.), and then, based on those folders, Erin will automatically create playlists. From that point onwards, you could, depending on your mood, opening the 1-minute playlist, or the 2-5-minutes playlist, or else. (that could be mostly automated with ffmpeg / ffprobe and a bit of scripting)

• For the second idea : I have implemented it, and I released a new version. You may pull the latest image, and use the new (documented) VIDEO_START_POSITION parameter, with start or middle or random according to your preference. Does it work as intended on your end?

• For the third idea : I think you are right. Given that Erin is client-only when it comes to processing and general logic, segmenting videos would need an external tool / treatment before being served by Erin.
