I have an X1 Vast running DSP 2.07 and ARM 2.03 and the documentation attached is what I was sent by Solax. Just looking through the code base, this documentation and the kb SolaX_VPP doc, the modbus protocol has changed and is not reflected in the code base.

How comes that it isn't reflected in the codebase? Which VPP mode(s) you see not working on your firmware?

The VPP mode I was after is mode 8 and is listed in the select list but if you look at the code it uses register 0x007C , which according to the documentation is the old VPP method and only values 0 to 7 are accepted. The code has an allowance for mode 8 & 9 but only for GEN 4 inverters. To utilise the mode 8 (at least according the docs and code) you need to use register 0x00A0.

Mode 8 & 9 are working just fine on newer firmwares, they didn't remove compatibility to previous firmwares. Did you give it a try?

No I have not yet. I wanted to look through the code first and get an understanding of my model, firmware and how they interact. All good, hopefully the attached document is useful for future reference and I'll give setting it a try.

@doey28 I dont know where you are looking, but mode8 (autorepeat) is using the new register set 0xA0.
Maybe you are looking at the _direct alternatives (these may not have been updated). I only use the autorepeat version without _direct

Besides that you did that changes recently, Solax wouldn't drop support from one to the next firmware in my opinion. There are ecosystems around that won't adapt that fast.

I don't have that option in the HA solax modbus device interface. I only have the "Modbus Power Control (direct)" select list with the 10 options. This was the initial drive for me to have a look at the code and see what I was missing in respect of the solax modbus documentation.

Hi folks, just following up on this thread — Mode 8 works on an X1-VAST Gen6.

System

• Model: X1-VAST-10kW (serial prefix 10M), HA device page Hardware field reads Gen6
• Firmware: portal shows ARM 007.03-000.03 / MDSP 009.02; HA device page shows the same as DSP 9.02 ARM 7.03. @doey28 DSP 2.07 / ARM 2.03 looks like an older build (?).
• Integration: 2026.06.5

What worked
Used the autorepeat trigger button.solax_inverter_powercontrolmode_trigger_mode_8_9 (source key powercontrolmode8_trigger). @doey28 — if you searched entities for "remotecontrol" you'd have missed it, the name has no such substring.

I never touched any _direct entity. Per @infradom above, those may still be on the old 0x007C register that only accepts 0–7, so they're a separate path from the autorepeat one.

Parameters: push_mode_power negative to charge (inverted sign convention from Mode 1 holds on Gen6), timeout 60s, autorepeat_duration 600s, timeout_next_motion = VPP Off, default polling left at 15s. Verified by sensor.solax_inverter_solax_modbus_power_control reading "Individual Setting - Duration Mode" and actual battery power responding.

Prerequisite not mentioned anywhere in the docs
In my experience, if charger_use_mode is set to Smart Schedule, cloud TOU owns the inverter and reclaims it at each slot boundary, which will make Mode 8 look intermittent or dead. I set charger_use_mode to 'Self Use' Mode first. Mode 8 works like an overlay on the persistent work mode, so that's also what it should fall back to when disabled.

That report is an X3-Hyb-G4 PRO on 2026.06.7 with no trigger button at all — a newer integration version than mine. So this doesn't look like type gating widened over time; perhaps the X1-VAST and X3-Hyb-G4 PRO resolve to different allowedtypes despite both being Gen6?. Firmware is also a possible cause, that system reports ARM 022.06 / DSP 022.07, different numbering line again from mine. I can't separate model from firmware as the cause from one data point.

Not tested: PV power limiting (no PV commissioned yet), Mode 9, target SOC. I will report once I do.

The entries were enabled for GEN6 more recently than this thread, so Mode8 should work fine on all GEN6s
