Get an app to open this 'program' link

Hi! Thanks for keeping this project alive! I've been using the original Fmstrat version of WinApps and decided to give this one a try.

So far, the terminal portion of the setup has been working smoothly, although I'm almost there, until this happens. I reused my libvirt VM that I used with the Fmstrat version, that one managed to detect and setup my installed apps before, but when I tried it again with this version, it managed to connect to the seamless RDP session, but then it gets to this error, implying that there are no apps in the Windows side that can't handle the request from the setup.sh. The installed Windows build itself is a custom one, which Tiny11 Core. I tried reinstalling with a full-fat vanilla Windows 11 ISO, but the same issue occurred.

Trying to click "Browse for an app on Microsoft Store" brings nothing, because, of course, it doesn't know what program to call either.

Do I have to install any additional programs on the Windows VM? Or am I missing something here that's not on the Fmstrat version?

  - Utilise a new certificate by removing relevant certificate(s) in /home/zhmie/.config/freerdp/server.
  - Try increasing the RDP_TIMEOUT in /home/zhmie/.config/winapps/winapps.conf.
  - If using 'libvirt', ensure the Windows VM is correctly named as specified within the README.
  - If using 'libvirt', ensure 'Remote Desktop' is enabled within the Windows VM.
  - If using 'libvirt', ensure you have merged 'RDPApps.reg' into the Windows VM's registry.
  - If using 'libvirt', try logging into and back out of the Windows VM within 'virt-manager' prior to initiating the WinApps installation.

Firstly, follow the last steps of our libvirt guide again which will tell you to run a postinstall script.

Secondly, it seems like you have FreeRDP 2; it is unsupported. If your distro's package manager doesn't have FreeRDP 3, compile from source. For more info, check the readme and the FreeRDP wiki.

I tried redoing the last steps again, except renaming the guest's computer name to RDPWindows and enabling remote desktop, because I've already done that when I used the Fmstrat version, and as I said, I can still connect to the guest through freerdp.

I even tried executing just the NetProfileCleanup.ps1 by itself, and I noticed that I haven't set the execution policy to "unrestricted", so I solved that by running Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Force and re-running NetProfileCleanup.ps1 and had this output:

I've also upgraded FreeRDP to version 3 through AUR (the Linux host is Manjaro 25.0.4, Plasma 6 DE), and it's the git version, which means it's compiled from the source.

None of these changes anything, I still get the "Get an app to open this 'program' link".

Do you maybe have two versions of FreeRDP and WinApps is using the wrong one? Try setting thr path to it in the config

Well, when I installed FreeRDP 3 from the AUR, it asked to remove the older version, FreeRDP 2 from the official Manjaro repo, because they're conflicting, so I did that, and what I have now is only FreeRDP 3.

But okay, I'll look at what it's set to in the config later when I boot back to Linux. I'm typing this on my main Windows install.

I got that error. Try logging into windows and then logging back out and try again. It worked for me.

I kind of did? Did you mean through virt-manager or freedrp?

I had to log in through virt-manager to, well, do what I could to fix the problem, and test-run the software I intended to use with it, but the problem persists.

I'll try it anyway, though. When I'm booted to my Linux. typing this on my Windows install.
